# Delete a tool

> Remove an API tool.

Deletes the tool. Agents can no longer use it, starting with the next call. This can't be undone.

> Also remove any line in the agent's instructions that mentions this tool, so the agent doesn't promise something it can no longer do.

Tool ID.

## Errors

| Status | `error_code` | Meaning |
| - | - | - |
| `404` | `TOOL_NOT_FOUND` | No API tool with this ID on your account. |
| `503` | `SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE` | Try again. |
